Design support & integration

Our markets are more and more looking for a very high integration level between complex electronics parts and mechanical and plastic parts, even aesthetical and very sophisticated. For this reason Selcom Group has teams of mechanical design engineers working on the integration between electronic and plastic design and, consequently, providing an efficient industrialization level of the final product to the test engineers involved on the definition of production processes and test equipments. The methodical data collection from the production lines, obtained thanks to customized software developed on purpose, is an irreplaceable instrument to reach and maintain over the time the very strict quality targets required by the clients.

 

 

Mechanical Design

The increasing customer demand for efficient integration of electronics in plastic-housings with optical and esthetical quality requirements needs complex mechanical development studies, and therefore it’s becoming a priority in our product development activities.

The continuous research of the best trade-off between time for development and ambitious projects force us to use the most advanced systems and instruments for project-development and simulation.

Product Industrialization

An efficient product industrialization is one of the key-competences of Selcom Group.

It is based on a strict and precise approach of each single project to match the optimal process and product specification.

In this phase, the fast and error-free importing process of CAD-data information guarantees an uniform distribution of univocal nomenclatures across all the assembling, soldering and circuit-testing lines.

A fundamental step in the industrialization-study is the definition of the optimal panel layout and dimension in order to guarantee the optimal performance in production-lines and automatic test-automation.

Our methods and instruments:

  • IPC normative compliance
  • Re-optimizing of high volume products with DFT and DFM

Easycam ( proprietary Software of CAM, DFT and DFM, compatible with main standard CAD functions and formats, and for calculation of quality data like defect occasions in different types of processes)

 

 

Process Engineering

Our competences in process engineering are used to define and support the optimal process for each product. In this phase an appropriate selection of process automation and of the definition of the ideal production line is made to meet the target of quality and costs required by the customer applying the following technologies:

 

  • SMT technology: screen-printing or dispensing of solder-paste, component placement and reflow soldering;
  • THT technology: component inserting, wave and selective soldering process, including  selective laser soldering;
  • Technology for depaneling, scoring, conformal coating, packaging
  • Technology for process, machine and line supervision, including development of SPS-Software.

Testing Technology

The competence of this area is to define, realize, execute functional-tests  and  define test-strategies matching volumes and processes of products by selecting the appropriate test-equipments.

 

The high competence acquired in this area gives us the possibility to: develop fixtures, customize test-sequences integrated with inline product-programming units,  program in-circuit machines and standard and customized Visual inspection-machines (AOI), define test-methods, develop and realize functional-test units.

 

Our methods and instruments:

  • Platforms for development of customized test-sequences
  • In-circuit machines (ICT), flying probes, ATE
  • AOI Vision-systems for solder-paste, component placement, solder-joint quality (optical and X-RAY)
  • Climatic rooms and burn-in
  • Automatic measurement equipments for product tests.

 

 

Process Data Collection

Real-time production data is collected by a proprietary Software (R.E.T.E) to display and overview the efficiency and parameter controlled Yields, starting from each single process step up to complete lines and plants.

The systematic collection of production data leads to an efficient production WIP monitoring, defect monitoring with process alarm indicators and (if required) product traceability.

 

The methods and instruments:

  • Statistical process control (SPC)
  • Management and classification of defects
  • Traceability and evidence of historical process data of each serialized product.
  • Recording of event-logs, transits and results (R.E.T.E)
  • Automatic identification and verifying by Barcode or 2D-code with labels or laser-marking.
  • Automatic identification and verifying of component lots when traceability is required.
